"Hate F*@k (part three)" by Ainsley Booth

Wow... where do I even begin?! Oh, I know - the cover! When I first laid eyes on Ainsley Booth's Hate Fuck: Part Three I had to look twice in order to figure out if it was even the same cover-model, because he looks so much more... relaxed? A little softer? Slightly smiley? And as soon as I had read the book, I knew why... not to spoiler you or anything, but this is one huge (*cough* no pun intended *cough*) gift-wrapped package for any Cole and Hailey fans! If you liked Part One and Part Two, you'll definitely enjoy the hell out of Part Three!

Part Three starts off exactly where Part Two had left us hanging - you take a steep jump off of that cliff(hanger) the end of the previous installment of the series has provided, and then everything happens real fast. It even felt a little too fast to me at times, but at the same time I am fully aware that the fast pace is exactly what the story called for - anything else would have seemed like a drag, but I really liked the side of Hailey we get to see in the beginning of this novel, and I would have loved to see some more of her victim-gone-heroine side. It was really refreshing to see her set her fears and occasionally surfacing self-doubt aside, to give in to the adrenaline and sense of self-preservation, showing strength and determination. Hailey is by no means a weak character, ever, but I do feel that the situation she found herself in made her understand Cole and what he does, the way he is, a lot better than she had before - which is a big step for their evolving relationship. This becomes clearer and clearer with every page you turn, as no matter what happens, Cole and Hailey become more close-knit with every moment they spend together, or even apart. Their chemistry is undeniable, their lovestory develops beautifully...

...and just when you think you're about to see your... I mean their... happily ever after, Booth throws a huge plot twist your way and leaves you gasping. It's not easy for a book to surprise me, but... oh my! I certainly hadn't seen that one coming!
(If you want to know what I am talking about, you'll have to read the book - sorry, but not giving that one away, to save people from stumbling over spoilers (; )

But have no fear, a happy end is near!
Despite all the bad and worse things Hailey and Cole have to go through, their part of The Horus Group series comes to a beautiful closure - I could not have asked for a better one.

I think it has become obvious that I thoroughly enjoyed exploring Cole and Hailey's lovestory. I also really enjoyed the development Cole went through, and the way we got to see various sides of him - the way Hailey got his walls to crumble. Hailey, not being your typical female protagonist, definitely has been a pleasure to get to know as well, and the brotherly banter between the boys men was more than fun to watch read. If the other characters' stories are anything like what is hinted on towards the end of Hate F*@k, then I am definitely looking forward to more and cannot wait for the next books in The Horus Group series!

"HATE F*@K (part two)" by Ainsley Booth

In my review of HATE F*@K (part one), I described the book as "hot, sizzling, somewhat mysterious, scandalous, fully enthralling and an absolute page-turner" - and part two in The Horus Group Series definitely doesn't disappoint either! If anything, it is even hotter, more sizzling, about the same level of mysterious and scandalous, and just as enthralling and as much of a page-turner! 

I just couldn't put it down - it was another sleepless night, thanks to Cole Parker... not that I'd mind.

Part two starts off where part one had left us hanging - with Hailey Reid trying to figure out if she was nothing but a quick-fuck-alibi for Cole Parker. Things, however, aren't as easy as one-two-three - Cole is stuck working a case for The Horus Group, protecting a client and trying to solve a murder, while Hailey is trying her best not to care and to ignore her much too evident feelings for Cole.
They don't belong in each other's lives - and they're both painfully aware of it...

...but as John Lennon once said, or sang, "life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans" - so of course, no matter how much they both try, neither one of them can banish the other from their mind. All thoughts keep leading them back to one another - but is it just physical attraction?

Or is there actually more to it?

Maybe even... a lot more?

Let me just put it like this:
One of them will be ready to admit their true feelings for the other a lot sooner than the other one is willing to let down their guard.
I'd be willing to bet your money'd be on the wrong person... and that you'll be falling in love with them right along with them.

Hate Fuck: part two is a really great and incredibly hot read - and I thoroughly enjoyed how many glimpses we got at the other Horus Group members in this installment of the series. They're like a twisted band of brothers, and I'd really like to hang out with all of them!
The book is, however, way too short (pout)! With just about 102 pages (according to amazon), it passes as fast as a novella, but holds as much of a story as a big book would. It will just feel way too short, because it will, just like book one in the series, have you wanting a lot more of Hailey and Cole, and... OH MY GOD. THE CLIFFHANGER! I almost forgot to mention the cliffhanger! (Okay, I admit, I didn't actually really almost forget... but... THE CLIFFHANGER!) If you thought the cliffhanger in part one was bad, wait until you get to the cliffhanger in the end of part two! (Don't you dare to skip to the end of the book just to read the cliffhanger... do yourself a favor and first enjoy all the Cole you get before that!) - The good news is, Hate Fuck: part three is only about a month away.

"Hate F*@k" by Ainsley Booth

Hot, sizzling, somewhat mysterious, scandalous, fully enthralling and an absolute page-turner - once I had started reading this book, I just couldn't put it back down until I had finished it.

One more chapter, one more chapter... oh, it's 2:00am? Just a few more pages. Oh come on, you're already 67% into the book, another chapter will do... Mayyyybe one more... And now you might as well finish it... - I think we all know how that one goes (;


First, I saw the cover.
Despite the cover-model being shirtless, my eyes kept being drawn to his - they have a certain darkness to them, which makes him look dangerous and mysterous. Near, yet distant.
Once you have started reading the book, you will realize that the cover-model embodies Cole, the lead male in this novel, perfectly. The face, the ink, it's all there - it's rare the people on a cover actually look how you could imagine the characters.

Then, I saw the title.
Hate Fuck [part one].
How could that not make you curious for more? Angry sex just calls for a steamy romance with some conflict - or a lot of it.

Then, there was the blurb:
"Warning: This is just the start. This doesn't end well. And it's going to get much worse before it ever gets better.

Cole: 

I push her buttons. I want to push them in the good way. Dirty, up-against-the-wall, my-hand-in-her-pants kind of way.

But that's not possible, because I'm dark and she's light, and we both know it..

So I push her buttons in the bad way, making her hate me.

Hailey:

If a genie granted me three wishes, I'd ask for Cole Parker to never look at me again, that I'd forget the dark promise in his eyes, and that just once, before he vanished from my life completely, that he'd push me up against a wall and make me scream.

Then I'd go wash my mouth out with soap."


And then I just had to read the book! (;

Hailey Reid comes from an upper class family with an affinity to scandal - that she wants nothing to do with. She has moved out, has her own apartment, a job, and is paying her own bills - but family is nothing you can just escape.

Cole Parker is a dark and mysterious ex-Navy SEAL, now working for The Horus Group, a crisis management firm hired by Hailey's father.

She is the good girl - with bad thoughts for the bad boy man, who says he'd like to be good for her. To her.
The man she can't even stand; except that she can.
A lot.
Despite - or rather, especially through - all their banter it becomes obvious just how much they are drawn to one another, but also, just how acutely aware they are that they shouldn't get involved. But shouldn't doesn't mean couldn't and certainly not won't.
But... do both of them want the same thing?
Or are there ulterior motives for either one of them?

Would they stand a chance, despite fate's "gross sense of humor"? Or are there too many secrets, too dark not to burden them from the start?


What can I say?
The book did come with a warning: "This is just the start. This doesn't end well. And it's going to get much worse before it ever gets better."
And it does come with a cliffhanger, too. A cliffhanger that will have you wanting more, and that will have you wishing that its last words were wrong. So, so, so wrong.
