"Team Niklas" by Ally Adams♥ Blog-Tour & Q&A ♥

HAPPY RELEASE DAY, ALLY!

Get your piece of Niklas now, everyone!

Oh my... what can I say?
I really, really liked [Team] Tomás, I really loved [Team] Lucas, and I... I... fuckin' adored [Team] Niklas! I feel like I should either be adding a sixth star to Team Niklas's rating, or steal one away from the other books in the series in order to make [Team] Niklas stand out more, because... man... this book wins! So pssssht, don't tell Lucas or even Tomás, but I think Nik's my favorite!

Team Niklas is the story of Niklas Wagner and Sasha Saxon of the Santa Ana Saints and will be playing on every octave of your emotional range. Dripping with innuendo, this novel not only made me swoon over yet another fictional soccer player (and I don't even like soccer!), but it also made me "awww" in adoration, growl in anger, gasp in surprise and all but shake in anticipation.

That being said, you're not only in for one emotional ride, but also for a story delivering very real characters that find themselves in very realistic situations. Both of the protagonists in this book, who have had cameos in the past novels in the series, are flawed, vulnerable, honest and no-bullshit direct. This doesn't only make it easy to connect with the characters and to put yourself in their shoes, but it also adds to how interesting and heartfelt their storyline is - a storyline, that isn't all beer and skittles, but bears deep scars and hosts conflict, without, however, being too much drama to be lifelike.

Nik is steaming hot, direct and fun.
Sasha is sassy, entertaining and voguish.
Together, they're a great team, stronger than separately, figuring out not only how to score in love, but also how to play the game of life.

Just like Ally Adams's other books in The Saints Series [Team Lucas, Team Tomás], Team Niklas highlights the importance of the people you surround yourself with and their support, emphasizing just how important it is that you and them all pull together, stick together, and stand up for one another. I absolutely love this author's writing, and cannot wait to see what she'll be sending our way next - personally, I hope it will be The Russian! Hint, hint!

While this is part of a series, you can absolutely read this (and the other books in the series) as standalones.

5/5

"I won't hurt your body or your heart."

In his hometown of Berlin, Germany, Niklas Wagner is a super star and when the Saints pay the big bucks to sign him up and bring him to Santa Ana, California, Nik takes a shine to his new life. When he meets the Saints' media officer, Sasha Saxon, sparks fly literally.

But Sasha is not your average girl - by day she is a journalist who looks after the media for the national champion soccer team and at night she designs for her personal fashion label. She had big dreams and they don't include a boyfriend.

Nik has never had to chase the girls but now he has met his match - Sasha is about to lead him on the biggest chase of his life.

“Stop moving or I’ll accidently put it in the wrong place,” I ordered Nik. You would think a guy who had done military conscription at home in Berlin, and stood at attention for long periods of time in all sorts of weather, could stand still for a few minutes.
“Sah-sha, is it even possible to put it in the wrong place?” he asked, with a raised eyebrow. I couldn’t help but smile—the way he said my name with his German accent always caught my attention; it started like sarsaparilla and finished like a dance.
Niklas Wagner, star midfielder for the national soccer team the Santa Ana Saints, had come to me for a suit adjustment—yep by day I was the media officer for the Saints and by night I designed; it was my hobby-cum-passion. Nik was standing in front of me wearing only the black suit pants and the jacket, no shirt—I could see all those well-developed abdominal muscles just waiting to be touched and I wouldn’t mind tracing those grooves with my tongue either, up and down, tight and tense. Is it getting hot in here? Then I accidently did what I had been threatening, jabbed him with a pin.
“Ouch,” he yelped and stepped back.
“See? What did I tell you? Stand at attention,” I barked.
He stiffened and stood straight… for about five seconds.
“Okay, you’re done, get it off.”
He grinned again. I swear everything I said had a sexual connotation to this guy. He extended his hand like a gentlemen and helped me off the floor. Phew that was a rush, coming up past his bulge, then past the muscles in his bare chest and standing full height with my hand feeling so small in his. I think I just orgasmed. I looked away quickly.
“Thanks, you can let my hand go now,” I said, he did so slowly, running his fingers up my palm.

Q: What inspired you to create, Niklas, the German protagonist?

A: I always envisaged having a beautiful, tall, strong German soccer player in my team. Lucas is British, Tomas is Latin American and Niklas is from Berlin, Germany. I loved Germany when I visited a few years back and going back many generations, my family tree sprouts in Bavaria.

Q: Niklas and Sasha are both flawed characters. Sasha is probably your most flawed female character yet. Is that how you intended it to be?

A: No to be honest. Sasha developed as I wrote her and a lot of readers will relate to her vulnerability—when a partner cheats and you are left feeling lost and lacking in self-esteem. But Sasha’s strong in herself, just not sure of relationships. Mia in Team Lucas is a much more confident girl and Alice in Team Tomás is different again because she is more naive than Mia and Sasha.

Q: Did you have someone in mind that you visualized as Niklas and Sasha?

A: Always. I usually create a picture board of how I see my characters and I did this with Niklas and Sasha. Niklas was a mixture of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones), Nick Reiwoldt (Australian Rules football star) and a couple of gorgeous guys that I found images of online and have no idea who they are! I envisaged Sasha to be a little bit like a blonde Ruby Rose (Australian actress in Orange is the New Black) and Hannah Spearritt from Primeval. Neither are quite Sasha, but it’s the closest I came to visualizing her.

Q:  What inspired you to write the Saints’ team series?

A: For a while I was a publicity officer for a national football team and I was also a WAG (wife/girlfriend of a player). So I thought I would put together some of the fun experiences which became the foundation for the Saints’ team books.

Q: How much of what happens in your books actually happens in the sporting world?

A: Great question and thanks for asking. I do a lot of research for my books and I have firsthand experience working with several national sporting teams. The professional sporting teams often have a sense of being a real family and they look after their players and their players’ families.
There is a lot of pressure on the players, as evident in my books and their performance on the field dictates their future. The women in their lives can play a big part in stabilizing the players, offering support and getting them through the season. It can be quite hard on the women because the guys are often at training at night, away playing games and when they lose a game, it can be a very moody environment at home!

Q: Will we get a book on The Russian next? Readers are keen to hear his story.

A: Ha, I love The Russian and I’ve based him on someone I actually knew when I worked for a football club. Luckily the Saints’ team is full of hunks—I’ve been dying to write book three featuring the gorgeous, tall, German, Niklas and now that is out of my system. As for The Russian, my publisher is letting me have a break after writing the three books, so if there’s a demand for The Russian, I’ll start writing that one next.

"Team Niklas" by Ally Adams
♥ Exclusive Cover Reveal ♥

Wow, this new author's truly on a roll!
After having had a double release on July 1st, releasing both her début novel Team Lucas, as well as part two in the Saints series, Team Tomás, on the same day, she is now presenting to you the cover of Team Niklas - the third book in the series.

Niklas has already been introduced to us in the previous novels, and, personally, I cannot wait to meet him up close and personal! Team Niklas is set for release early this September; if you haven't read the first two installments in the series yet, I'd highly recommend them as summer reads!

Want to know what I thought? - You can find my review of Team Lucas here, and my review of Team Tomás here.

How hot does this cover look?! Can you say nyumm?!
While it seems somewhat darker and rougher than the covers of the other two books, it matches the little tag line/quote at the top of it, "I don't want to accidentally break you", amazingly well, don't you think? And it makes me sooooo much more curious about Niklas!

"Team Tomás" by Ally Adams

Mmmmh, Tomás - mi corazón.
"I'll remember [you] until my dying breath", too.

Yellow Card, Red Card, V-Card... wait, what?! - Here comes [no pun intended... *cough* ...] your sensual latin lover number one, Tomás Carrera. On a motorcycle. And with an accent. I guess I can't be sure if my reading devices kept overheating because of the weather, or if it was Tomás!

Either way, you're in for a big treat.
The story of Alice and Tomás is heartwarming, yet also heartbreaking, and not to forget heart-mending, while Tomás himself is sexy, steaming, and sensual, without being all too smug about it.

Team Tomás is definitely different from Team Lucas, part one in the Saints series, but I love it just the same. Personally, I have never been the biggest fan of soccer, and I had never thought I would ever fall for boys who play with balls, but thanks to Ally Adams I will most probably be adding a whole team to my list of book-boyfriends... and speaking of the team - I really hope we'll get a book about The Russian, who seems really fun and entertaining, and I honestly cannot wait for the next installment in the series, in which we will be meeting German Nik up close and personal. But I am getting ahead of myself here...

While the story of Tomás and Alice is one that isn't off to the best and easiest start, bearing conflict and obstacles, it is certainly a very hot one - yet, the outside world is not forgotten, and the novel also beautifully underlines the importance of both family and friendship.

Full of interesting, well-developed, fun-to-meet characters and a great story all around, Team Tomás is a book I am sure you will not be disappointed in - especially if you've enjoyed reading Team Lucas! As I have mentioned before though, Team Tomás is very different from the first book in the series, and it was amazing to see how diverse Ally Adams's writing is. She has managed to publish two books on the same day, not only written from different point of views that are very easy to tell apart, but also setting extremely different tones and creating explicitly dissimilar atmospheres. I am looking forward to seeing what places Ally's future writing will take us, and what characters she will be giving us the pleasure of meeting.

5/5!
[&& yet another book to add to the list of have-to-have-paperbacks (;]

"I'll remember, until my dying breath."

Tomás Carrera didn't expect Alice Peterson to rock his world.

Growing up with a single mom and as the eldest of five siblings, Tomás has had to be resonsible all his life. Now his super star soccer status has provided for his family and allowed him to let his hair down... and that's just what he's doing.

Signed to the Santa Ana Saints, Tomás is catching up for lost time with fast women, a fast Ducati motorcycle and a bevy of adoring fans. That is, until he loses his heart to Alice and is torn with wanting her and his independence.

Next in the series: Team Niklas

"Team Lucas" by Ally Adams

I can't believe this is only her début novel! Ally Adams has done a tremendous job on Team Lucas - I will have to treat myself to a paperback at some point and cannot wait for the next books in the Saints Series! When I first picked up my ARC, it was only to get a little sneak-peek - to get a feel of Ally's  writing before diving into it a few days later - but I actually ended up postponing finishing the book I was reading at the time, because I couldn't put Team Lucas down - it was captivating from the start.

Ally's writing makes it easy to feel instantly connected to the protagonist, Mia Carter, which makes it easy to thoroughly enjoy the story. Team Lucas is a fast-paced read and an absolute page-turner, filled with well-developed, complex characters. In addition, the novel also includes a lot of pop-culturual references that make it easy to feel right at home in Mia's world.

And Lucas... oh my... don't even get me started about Lucas. BIG SIGH.
Lucas Ainswright has, I mean... is..., Lucas Ainswright is the whole package - tall, all muscle, inked, handsome, moody and flawed enough to be interesting beyond his looks, yet as perfect as they come. Nyumm overload.

While I am not usually a fan of insta-smitten, I didn't mind Mia's immediate attraction to Lucas at all. Why? Because it's believable. It's not insta-love, and the development of her feelings for Lucas is so well described, I completely understand Mia's infatuation with him. Hell, I can partly feel it - even if and when she tries not to, which results in some of the best banter two almost lovebirds could have.
Throughout the witty remarks they're firing at each other, you tend to forget time - and my only dislike, which cannot even really be considered one, was how fast I ended up being done reading the book. While it delivered an ending that was nothing but beautiful, I would have liked to see more from Lucas and Mia, and am hoping that some day, Ally will deliver their story from Lucas's point of view.

I'd say Team Lucas is not only an amazing début novel, but also a summer must-read - whether you're the typical sports romance genre reader, or someone who'll just enjoy a great lovestory, I'm sure you'll enjoy Mia's and Lucas's journey either way! (:

5/5!

“I want to stay forever... I want to have you for as long as I can have you Lucas, even if that is a week or a year or a decade.”

Mia Carter never thought getting suspended from her part-time job for having attitude could be the best thing to ever happen ... maybe.

When Lucas Ainswright—one of the world’s biggest sporting stars—needs a minder, it just so happens that attitude is just what is needed to keep Lucas in line.

Now Mia’s job is to manage the sporting world’s bad boy and keep him at the top of his game for the season. Game on!

I'm 100% sure that the whole series will look awesome on the shelf! The covers of Team Lucas and Team Tomás go great together - it's immediately obvious that they're part of the same series.

He tries to forget her but he can’t—she’s so sweet and innocent and not like the women he’s met who are happy to play the field with him. He’s also a very good lover and he will teach Alice some tricks! After Tomas is Team Nik and he’s this strong, fit German soccer star but when he loses his heart, he loses it big time.

TEAM LUCAS (A Saints team novel) by Ally Adams
Contemporary Romance
Published by Atlas Producations, July 1st 2015

"I want to stay forever... I want to have you for as long as I can have you, Lucas, even if that is a week or a year or a decade... Just let me get my fill of you and I'll deal with the fallout if, when it happens."

Mia Carter never thought getting suspended from her part-time job for having attitude could be the best thing to ever happen... maybe.

When Lucas Ainswright - one of the world's biggest sporting stars - needs a minder, it just so happens that attitude is what is needed to keep Lucas in line.

Now Mia's job is to manage the sporting world's bad boy and keep him at the top of his game for the season.
Game on!
Next in the series: Team Tomás

Ally Adams is a journalist who lives in coastal Victoria, Australia, with her husband and furry friends. She is a literature major, romance reader and writer.

Q: I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Mia and Lucas - especially all their banter. It was great seeing Lucas and all his actions and reactions through Mia's eyes, but... do you have any plans of writing Lucas and Mia's story from Lucas's POV? I'd love to get a glimpse into his brain (and heart); a story told through his eyes.

A: Ah, I’m glad you asked me that Becky. I love Joanne Wylde’s book where you get both perspectives, but I also love Kylie Scott and Leisa Rayven’s stories where it is the girls’ POV. As a journalist I’ve worked with a lot of guys (more guys than gals) and they are so complex and difficult to read. I decided to just write the girls’ POV at this stage. I think it might be a novella if I wrote Lucas’s point of view unless I had flashbacks to his school days!

Q: There are a lot of pop cultural references in "Team Lucas", including, amongst others, The Vampire DiariesThe Bold and the BeautifulThe Walking Dead... so I take it you like watching TV? What do you do when you're not writing, and where do you draw your inspiration? - Do you have a writing routine, if so, what is it like? Is there a playlist that inspires you, something that's "totally Lucas and Mia" that you did or listened to to get your mind in the right spot?

A: Ha, I tape a lot of programs and because I write often five or more hours a day, I play them in the background, it sort of keeps me in the ‘genre’. When I’m not writing, I’m jogging, drinking coffee with friends or spending time with my dog. But honestly, I’m always writing in my head. I think of where the story will go when I drive, when I jog, even when I lay in bed, then I put it to paper. Chronic huh? I see it like a film then write it. I think a lot of writers are storytellers who always have ideas… even when I was at school I’d be organizing kids in my class to do play and perform. I’m not a big music person, I’m all about the words.

Q: "Team Lucas", book one in the Saints series, could be labeled a sports romance. Are you a big fan of sports? What's your favorite?
A: Yes, totally. I follow the AFL (Australian Football League) and my team is Geelong. I used to work in public relations for a national football team (hence the inspiration) and for a little while, I was a WAG, so I have put some insider information in the books. But that’s top secret J I can watch any elite sport, but I love the AFL and the summer of cricket.

Q: Next up in the series will be "Team Tomas" - is there anything you can already share about it? Hint on? Teasing's pleasing the reader's mind (-;
A: Ah Tomas is so sexy—the Latin lover. He doesn’t want to be in love because as the eldest of five kids and having been raised by a single mom, he’s been responsible for most of his young life. Now, he just wants to earn the big money and play around. Then he meets Alice.

Q: Your writing's very descriptive when it comes to your characters - it seems like you have certain people in mind when picturing each of your characters. If you were to cast a movie or TV show based on your book, whom would you like to see on the casting couch?
A: Great question Becky, thanks! So true. When I start each book, I do a research sheet where I write about them, their best friend, their family, the car they drive, their nicknames, their pet, everything that makes that character tick. I read a great quote once by author Anne Lamott who said we should listen and observe our characters because they’ll tell us more about them. So true. So I always do a story board or picture board of the character as I see them and I write it picturing them. I kind of had a young David Beckham in mind physically when I was writing Lucas, and Katy Perry for Mia. Every reader will have their own image. Who would you cast? I’d love to know!

Thank you SO much for having taken the time to answer all of my questions, Ally! (:

Since Ally asked... I figured I'd share some of my casting picks as well. Once you've read the novel, feel free to comment below to let us know whom you'd cast!

Lucas. In my mind, he kinda looked like Alex Pettyfer - and he even has the matching accent (-;

Mia. Ooooooh Mia. Mia was a lot tougher. On one hand, Zoey Deutch came to my mind - she can do the attitude, she can do the fun banter...

...but at the same time, Zooey Deschanel seemed to be perfect for Mia, too. I promise it's not the first names, but... I think you'll understand once you're reading the book?! (;

Tomás. He was another easy one - while described as an Enrique Iglesias look-alike, he immediately looked like Mitia Breckenridge in my mind!

Last but not least... GIVEAWAY-TIME!
A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to
Ally Adams,
as well as to
Helen at Atlas Productions!
