"When You Are Mine" by Kennedy Ryan
Happy Débutversary!

HAPPY Débutversary, Kennedy!

Following my review, you'll find a Blitz-Post full of awesomeness, including bonus material and a rafflecopter giveaway!

From page one I was amazed at how descriptive the writing in When You Are Mine was.
Kennedy Ryan definitely has a way with words, that will not only make you feel instantly connected to the characters, but also like you are right there in the midst of the happenings of the novel. It is easy to get lost in the story of Walsh, his family, friends, emotions and ambitions - making it nearly impossible to keep track of time while you are turning the pages.

To me, When You Are Mine is the full package - amazing writing and a great storyline, that delivers much more than you might initially hope for. A great lovestory that is much more complicated than your average love-triangle (quad-alarm!), with enough of a side-story to keep you interested in more than just the next smootch; generally speaking you could even say that this has been one of the un-smutty-est romance novels that I have read in a while - which might put it at an advantage, as I had much more opportunity to get to know the very complex and thoroughly developed characters; I sure am glad that I didn't have to pick my favorite.
But rest assured - that doesn't mean that Kennedy forgot to include enough sexual tension to make your kindle steam!

The characters have their bumps and edges, aren't all smooth but therefor all the more realistic. They receive their loving and beating just as much the next person, and the novel is a great example of how bad things can happen to good people, and how the cards we are dealt aren't always the ones we wish to receive... but that it's on us to turn things around and use the aces we've got up our sleeves to live life the way we want to, or think we deserve to.

Unfortunately though, the story did not only deliver more than I had hoped for, but occasionally a little too much... at times, I felt like there were too many of those before mentioned "side-stories", and I would really like to have a look inside Kennedy's brain to see how she was able to keep track of it all while creating the story. Please don't get me wrong; I absolutely loved that each and every character in the novel was a fully developed person, rather than just another name between the pages - but in between, I honestly couldn't help feeling as if there was enough storyline material for a whole season of a new tv-show... which isn't necessarily bad - it just, sometimes, made me feel a little all over the place and overwhelmed with the amount of ideas poured into one single novel.

Alltogether, I'd definitely recommend When You Are Mine to anyone who is looking for an amazingly written romance novel with a story that is anything but average - and that will exceed any and all expectations you have towards its story!
